Bolt Action Afrika Korps
Bolt Action Afrika Korps
Deployed to reinforce their struggling Italian allies against the combined forces of the British Commonwealth in North Africa, the Deutsches Afrika Korps (DAK) proved to be a formidable adversary. Led by the legendary Erwin Rommel, the Afrika Korps engaged in intense battles across Egypt and Libya, each side pushing the other to the brink.
In what was termed the last "Gentleman's War," German soldiers earned respect from their opponents, including British, Australian, Indian, and other forces. German tactics in the desert significantly influenced how British armor and infantry formations operated, lessons crucial for later conflicts in Northwest Europe.
The foot soldiers of the Afrika Korps were supported effectively by the feared '88' (8.8cm Flak) gun in a direct-fire role. The ubiquitous Panzer IV, evolved into what British tank crews dubbed the 'Pz IV special,' became a tank that commanded both fear and respect among British commanders. Key battles at El Alamein, Tobruk, and Gazala honed their combat prowess, prompting British High Command to make strategic adjustments that ultimately led to victory in the desert campaign.
Warlord Games offers highly detailed and dynamically posed Afrika Korps miniatures, equipped with a range of headgear and weapon choices. They are perfectly suited for engagements not only in North Africa but also throughout the Tunisian and Italian campaigns.
