The Commandos gained a legendary reputation for their daring and courage during World War II. Established in 1940 by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, they were tasked with striking back against the seemingly unstoppable German forces that had swiftly pushed the British Expeditionary Force out of France. This volunteer force drew recruits from all branches of the military—Army, Navy, and the Inter-Allied Commando regiment, which included soldiers from Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, and other nations.
Commandos saw action across Europe, Burma, and Africa, earning numerous battle honors for their bravery, including the renowned raid on St Nazaire.
Deployed in various formations, from small units to full assault divisions depending on the mission, Commandos were known for their exceptional training, aggressiveness in combat, formidable equipment, and proficiency in close-quarters fighting. They instilled fear in their German, Italian, and Japanese adversaries.
