Bolt Action Churchill Tank (Plastic)
Bolt Action Churchill Tank (Plastic)
The Churchill, unquestionably one of the most renowned and effective British tanks of World War II, is soon arriving to reinforce your army. This is your opportunity to secure three of these formidable vehicles early, allowing you to field up to seven different variants on the battlefield and keep your adversaries on edge!
The British Army adopted a strategic doctrine that paired light and swift 'Cruiser Tanks' with slower, heavily armored and armed 'Infantry Tanks' designed to spearhead assaults with infantry support. The Churchill epitomized the latter category—among the heaviest Allied tanks of the war, it boasted thicker frontal armor than even the Tiger tank!
Despite its common issue of being under-gunned, typical of many British armored vehicles of the era, the Churchill was highly regarded by its crews. Its exceptional cross-country mobility and reduced susceptibility to catching fire after a direct hit distinguished it from other tanks, including the Sherman.
Named after Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who had been involved in tank warfare development during World War I, the Vauxhall Motors-built Churchill bore a design reminiscent of earlier WWI tanks. It served as the foundation for numerous variants, from the MkI equipped with a 2-pounder gun to the MkVII armed with a 75mm gun. Specialized versions featured additional engineering equipment such as bridge layers and mine-clearing devices, with a popular 'close support' variant sporting a 95mm howitzer!
In this new plastic kit from Warlord and Italari you'll get 7 turret variations (yes - we said SEVEN!) allowing you to build the following marks:
- MkIII - with 6pdr gun
- MkIV - Cast turret with 6 pdr gun
- MkV - Cast turret with 95m Howitzer
- MkVI - Cast turret and Welded turret with 75mm gun
- NA 75
- AVRE (Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers) with 290mm Petard Mortar (aka the flying dustbin!)
This vehicle can also be used in games of Achtung Panzer!, the game of close-quarters tank-on-tank combat, its rules can be found in the Achtung Panzer! rulebook.
