Bolt Action Tiger I Ausf. E Heavy Tank
Bolt Action Tiger I Ausf. E Heavy Tank
One of the most dreaded tanks of World War II, the mere mention of the name 'Tiger' could strike fear into Allied armored units.
Deployed hastily on the Eastern Front in response to the Soviet tanks that had caught the Wehrmacht off guard, the Tiger's imposing square body and rounded turret were intimidating to enemy tank crews. Its thick, high-quality steel armor rendered it nearly impervious, particularly from frontal anti-tank fire.
Armed with a formidable 88mm gun, the Tiger was effective against enemy tanks at distances of up to three kilometers, boasting a lethal high-explosive shell capability as well.
Weighing 52 tons, the Tiger was sluggish but its wide tracks provided reasonable cross-country mobility. Crewed by specially trained personnel, it was costly to manufacture and maintain. A veteran crew of five men could engage multiple enemy tanks with a good chance of victory, while keeping the crew and tank relatively safe.
Tigers were typically organized into independent heavy tank battalions and strategically allocated by high command to pivotal sectors, where their mere presence often tipped the scales in favor of the German forces.
